Aim to be in the top 3 positions, not just in the first page
Blogging is a great way to stay up to date while
easily generating new, relevant content. Blogging
regularly (ideally once a week at a minimum) can have
significant implications for search engine optimization,
since each new blog entry represents a new web page. While search engine
bots are scanning websites for indexing
purposes, they also look for links to other
websites. The more high-quality inbound links
the website has, the greater its link authority. In
theory, every inbound link counts as a positive
recommendation for a website. However, it is
not the quantity of inbound links that plays the
biggest role for search engines; it’s quality. The more popular and important a site is, the more links from that site matter. A site like Wikipedia has thousands of diverse sites linking to it, which means it's probably a popular and important site. Backlinks are the foundation to Google’s algorithm. Once you have a good site structure in place, you need to focus on acquiring backlinks. When working on your content, you should take the next biggest thing into account: voice search. Yes, it’s been around for a while. But with the advent of Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa and Google’s nameless Home assistant, things are moving fast right now.
If you don’t know, ask someone or search online
Building links is certainly an essential SEO practice, but Google is still dealing with the manipulation of SERPs via economically minded marketers. However, your link building strategy needs to encompass relevancy. The key to success is balancing risk with reward and keeping a close eye on your budget. You need to KNOW how much risk you're willing to take on and how much money it'll take to get results. You won’t know how well or poorly your mobile strategy is going if the numbers are mixed in with the results and analytics of the desktop strategy. With content being king, some companies will do whatever they can to beef up the content on their website, including stealing it from another website and claiming it as their own. Website Optimization is about more than just making a page easier for users to browse through and navigate. There are also several things a website manager can do to optimize the website for their own devices.
Canonical URLs in the Wild
Whether it is writing the most useful article about a certain topic, or ensuring that your eCommerce system is easy to use, it is important to make sure site visitors have a positive experience, because only then will they stick around. Stop words are the small words in your SEO phrase, such as up, with, is, a, etc. While it’s widely accepted as a best practice to remove these from your SEO phrase, sometimes removing them can actually hurt your SEO. For example, “What is a graco taco?” makes a lot more sense than “what graco taco.” So while many SEO plugins and search experts will advise you to remove stop words, sometimes it’s best to leave them in if they drastically impact the meaning of the phrase. Be your own judge. While the worldwide average is two words per search phrase, the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia all show that searchers prefer the use of three- or four-word terms. What is SEO? Meta descriptions are technically HTML attributes that offer concise explanations of what a webpage is about. They can be used on search engine result pages to show a preview for a webpage. They are far less of a direct ranking signal as they once were (almost not at all these days) BUT they remain important because – when Google chose to use the suggested meta description – they are the effective ‘sales pitch’ to users to click on your webpage. SEO is all about getting more search visibility, yet there's no way I (or anyone else) can guarantee you a certain ranking or position for any specific keyword. There are too many variables at play, even with keyword and competitive research in hand.
SEO has truly come into its own as a marketing channel
We asked an SEO Specialist, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "Optimization is important, but without metrics, you’ll never really know whether your efforts are paying off. But if you track and measure from the beginning, you can continually improve." Just as Google has always been focused on providing its users with the best results, now it’s time to put your focus on what’s most important for your audience. Before you accept posts from guest writers, double-check they haven’t been published elsewhere. Bloggers probably aren’t acting unscrupulously if they have been previously published, they may just not understand that this can cause search visibility problems. Content creation and distribution is essential for SEO. Content is about much more than what's on your website. It's necessary to build your online real estate and create content that will improve visibility across the web. An SEO campaign without content is severely limited. There are many sites out there which promise you quick ways to get to the top of Google. Many of them are exploiting current loopholes in Google’s algorithm. Yes they may get you to the top of Google for now, but once Google spots those loopholes they will close them, and often punish the sites who took advantage. So you could soon find yourself plummeting back down again.
Link to internal pages on your site
When you’re looking at a competitor’s web page source code, you’ll see the tag near the top of the page, along with a bunch of tags used to describe the page’s content. If the site includes it, the meta name= ”keywords” tag should be a few lines below. Both of these contain your competitor’s keywords. Links from a diverse range of websites is good, many links from a single domain to your site (especially if it’s one of the very sites linking to you) can be seen as spammy. URLs and links are building blocks of a website, therefore, ensure that they are consistent and are search engine friendly. Pages that have many outbound links are considered to hurt search engine ranking. A sitemap is a lot like what it sounds like: a ‘map’ of your website which lists every page on the site, which can be designed for users or for search engines, in both cases to help them navigate the site. s. Cloaking refers to an attempt to boost search result rankings by serving different content to Googlebot than to regular users. This causes problems such as less relevant results (pages appear in search results even though their
content is actually unrelated to what users see/want), so Google takes cloaking very seriously.
Boost your site speed indefinitely
Build your site with a logical link structure. Every page should be reachable from at least one static text link. Many specialized SEO tools can help you determine the popularity and the competitiveness of your possible keywords and can help improve your search engine ranking particularly in Google. Search engines have been tailored to predict the intent of customers, which explains why some searches have features such as local 3-packs, featured images or videos and Quick Answers. Understanding the intent behind searches allows marketers to create content messages and formats that will most likely appeal to customers. Create and submit sitemaps for each country in Google Webmaster Tools. This
is only necessary if you’re using subdirectories for each of your locale sites,
but it is very important that Google indexes and understands all the pages on
your site. The best way to do this is to submit a sitemap for each country or
region you are targeting. Building backlinks is not enough. You also have to monitor every link your website is earning. Not knowing who links to you or when links are being removed can cost you a lot of traffic.
